Membership Information
Members receive several publications of The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada for one year from receipt of membership. Annual fees for Canadian members are:
- Ordinary — $67
- Youth (under 21 years of age) — $41
- Associate Member (family member of an Ordinary member) — $5
An applicant may affiliate with one of the Centres of the Society across Canada, or may join the Society directly as an unattached member. We recommend you affiliate with the Sunshine Coast Centre so that you can directly support our activities.
Here is what Ordinary and Youth membership gives you:
- The Observer's Handbook (published annually in September).
- Six issues (in electronic format) of the bimonthly Journal of the RASC which contains review articles, research papers on historical and contemporary topics, less formal articles, education notes, general notes of astronomical interest, book reviews, news items concerning the society and its centres, and letters.
- Six issues of SkyNews magazine, the Canadian Magazine of Astronomy & Stargazing.
- A New Member's Kit (for new members only). The welcome package includes the following: a four page information flyer containing the History of the RASC, membership information, General Assembly information, committee information, and descriptions of the publications (Journal, Bulletin, Observer's Handbook, The Beginner's Observing Guide, Observer's Calendar, Skyways, and SkyNews); a flyer of great gift ideas i.e., crests, stickers, key chains, etc.; a coupon offering The Beginner's Observing Guide at a discount; and a card containing the web access codes for members-only areas of the RASC Web site.

How to Become a Member
There are three ways to become a new member:
- Join on-line using your credit card by visiting http://www.rasc.ca/join (Visa and Mastercard are accepted)
- Download a printed application form from that page and send it to the RASC National Office, or
- Call the RASC National Office (from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Eastern time) at 416-924-7973
If you wish to renew your current membership, do this:
- Renew your membership by visiting http://www.rasc.ca/renew. Follow the directions there to login to your membership account on our member portal and renew with your credit card.
- Complete your annual renewal form (sent by email or paper mail) and send it to the RASC National Office
- Call the RASC National Office (from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Eastern time) at 416-924-7973
